Peggy Vance Young Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Peggy Jo Ann Vance Young, age 82, of Newland, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at her residence in Newland. She was born on October 30, 1936 in Avery County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Roby Glen Vance and the late Dolly Dennie Vance. She worked for several years as a beautician and as an LPN in area hospitals and nursing homes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Allen Vance and a precious grandson "Little David." Peggy is survived by her five children, who were the "light of her life", Debbie Young of Crossnore, Robbie (Judy) Young of Minneapolis, Tracy and Darrell Young, both of Maggie Valley, and Nikki (Roger) Gwyn of Banner Elk. She is also survived by her brother, Gene (Karen) Vance of Roan Mountain, TN and a sister, Mary Kate (Tony) Gragg-Swafford of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A memorial service for Peggy Young was held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Crossnore First Baptist Church with Revs. Freddie Stapleton and Lander Heafner officiating. The family received friends at the church from 2:00 pm until the service time. Graveside services were in the Crossnore Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank her CAP worker, Debbie Hughes for being her "best friend", and to all the Nurses and staff at Medi Home Hospice for their dedicated services, compassionate care and devotion to our precious mother, granny, sister and friend.
