Josephine Turbyfill Brewer ,age 85, of Newland passed away on March 16, 2015 at The Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Wintson-Salem, NC.A native of Avery County, she was born August 23, 1929 a daughter of the late James and Lockie Guy Turbyfill. She was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Newland and enjoyed reading, planting flowers, gardening, and doing laundry.Along with her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her: husband, Thomas Brewer; daughters, Barbara Jean Hartley, Patricia Ann Stamey, Pamela Joan Brewer; sisters, Betty McMahon, Gertrude Winebarger, Flossie Smith; brothers, Ernest, Howard, Harry Lee, and Raymond Turbyfill.Josephine has left to cherish her memory her: daughters, Kathy McKinney, and her husband, Danny, of Newland, Jeanette Coffey, and her husband, Dean, of Banner Elk; sons, Tommy Brewer, and his wife, Lorraine, of Black Mountain, Jimmy Brewer, and his girl friend, Janice Hopson, of Cranberry; sisters, Francis Gouge of Cranberry, Gladys Presswood, and husband, John, of Banner Elk; brother, Clay Turbyfill of Morganton; ten grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchildFuneral services for Josephine Turbyfill Brewer will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Grandfather Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Ingham officiating. Interment will follow in the Cranberry Cemetery.
