Gerald Lee Vance, age 78, of Newland, North Carolina passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, NC. He was born on January 26, 1941 in Crossnore, North Carolina, a son of the late Stokes Vance and the late Ruth Cooper Vance. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and Sister, Phyllis Shirley. Gerald attended Vale Freewill Baptist Church. He was known for his unconditional giving and unconditional love for his children, grandchildren, non biological family, and anybody that he felt was in need. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, yard sales, flee markets, entertaining company, and tinkering on his grist mill. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel music. Services for Gerald Lee Vance will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 7:00 pm from the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Calhoun and Pastor John Stockton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 pm up until the service hour at 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at 9am in the Clark Cemetery in Crossnore, NC. Pallbearers will be: Banner Main, Bailey Main, Andy Yoder, Waylon Griffith, Wayne Buchanan, and Chris Green.
