Sarah Elizabeth Vance Libera

Sarah Elizabeth Vance Libera, age 91, of Linville Falls passed away on May 10, 2016 at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation.A native of Avery County, she was born November 1, 1924 a daughter of the late Dempsey and Mae Ollis Vance.She was a graduate of Crossnore High School where she played basketball and went on to play for 2 years for Semi-Pro Basketball.Elizabeth was a member of Altamont Methodist Church and enjoyed painting.Along with her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother, Sammy Vance; sister, Katherine Stewart.Elizabeth has left to cherish her memory her children Bobby Libera and wife Joanne of Forest City, Connie Body and husband Robert of Gadsden, AL, Billy Libera and wife Regina of Murrells Inlet, SC; sisters, Betty Benton of Hickory, Carolyn Vance of Hickory, Barbara Jean Vance of Morganton; brothers, John Henry Vance of Murrells Inlet, SC, Willis Ray Vance of Collettsville, Kenneth Vance of Lenoir; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.Funeral services for Sarah Elizabeth Vance Libera will be conducted on Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Altamont Methodist Church or to Hospice of the Blue Ridge in Mitchell County.Words of comfort and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.rsfh.net.The care of Elizabeth and her family has been entrusted to Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of Newland.Read Obituary
