Hughes, age 34, of Newland passed away on April 22, 2016.He was born August 29, 1981 in Asheville, NC.Marcus was a welder and enjoyed drawing, reading, hunting, fishing and loved music.He was proceeded in death by his half brother, Dennis Franklin McFalls.A loving son and father, Marcus has left to cherish his memory his: mother, Charlene Daniels of Newland; father, Joe Hughes and wife Tammy of Newland; daughter, Lauryn Faith Hughes and her mother Cortney Carpenter; maternal grandmother, Dolly Daniels of Newland; sisters, Monica Sheppard and husband Matthew of Newland, Sona Gurley of Spruce Pine, Myra Cook of Roan Mountain, Keisha Cook of Newland; brothers, Joe Allen Hughes of Newland, Mark Hughes of Spruce Pine, Shane Hughes of Spruce Pine, Junior Cook of Newland, Calvin Cook of Newland, Tylor Cook of Newland; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Marcus W. Hughes will be conducted on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Trivett officiating. Interment will follow in the Daniels Cemetery.
